Rachel and Nigel’s story is a long one but a beautiful one! They met back when they were in primary school. Nigel used to pull Rachel’s hair and once he ask if he could cheat off her…. She said ‘you should have studied!!!!!’. Years later, Rachel and Nigel found themselves at University together. Luckily by then Nigel had upped his game, because on a warm summer day I had the honour of photographing their Melbourne wedding.
As like many other Melbourne weddings, things didn’t go to plan. Their families weren’t able to come from overseas and there was no indication of when they were going to be allowed to come. They were so eager to marry each other that they decided to have a simple, meaningful and chic affair with their close friends.
Rachel and Nigel were married at the Melbourne Registry Office in the beautiful Old Treasury Building! Beforehand, Rachael was waiting on the steps with her friends and was feeling a bit nervous. As soon as Nigel was next to her, she instantly calmed and it was something super special to watch. These two were so kind and fun and you could see it throughout the entire day.
They had their small ceremony in the Thomas Hyde Room and there were definitely tears!!! It was beautiful, and little did Rachel know, her Mum was there the whole time on FaceTime.
Afterwards we took some photos with their friends, and then headed off to the Treasury Gardens. We then frolicked through the city streets taking photos on the way to their little reception at Pepe’s Italian Restaurant.
It truly was a perfect day. I was so honoured to be a small part on their special day.Â
