Ooooo yes. Eloping at Flinders on the Mornington Peninsula is something dreams are made of, no matter what time of year it is. Cascading cliffs, a view for days, long grass and stunning rock pools. There’s no shortage of options for your photos and even in the summer time you can easily find a spot where it feels private.

How eloping works

When you see elopements happen in movies, it’s always made to seem spontaneous and on a whim (usually after many many MANY beverages)!! However that’s not how real elopements actually are, and to legally elope it’s a bit more than just signing a marriage certificate on the day!

You have some options when planning your elopement… take care of the legalities on the day of your elopement OR take care of that beforehand and have a symbolic elopement ceremony instead.

To have a legal elopement ceremony you will need a certified marriage celebrant to perform your ceremony. During this you will sign all the legal documents needed to make it official. One of the requirements for this is that you will need 2 witnesses to sign your marriage certificate. Any Mornington Peninsula celebrant will be able to help you with this.

A symbolic ceremony could be performed by a marriage celebrant OR if you’ve taken care of all the legal stuff beforehand…. Anyone or any WAY you want.

What you need to know about eloping at Flinders

Yup, this spot is stunning ANY time of year. You’ll get the most beautiful photos in the couple of hours after sunrise or before sunset! The soft golden light at these hours is super flattering and very dreamy on the cliffs at Flinders.

Something to be aware of is there’s a bit of walking involved, there’s no facilities and there’s no area for shelter. If there’s wild weather you will definitely need a plan B!

Do you need a permit to elope at Flinders?

No! This is one of the few places on the Mornington Peninsula you don’t need a permit to get married.

Plan B’s

SO!! The best laid plans have a back up plan in case Mother Nature decides to rain on your parade. My suggestion would be to make a weekend out of your elopement and book yourself a fabulous Air BnB! Your Air BnB can be your back up plan for your ceremony and hopefully there will be a break in the weather where you can duck down to Flinders for some photos. Check out these fabulous options….

Air bnbs

The weather is being a foul unit?! No worries! You can get photos at your air bnb, head out with some umbrellas OR head to a cool bar to get some fun photos!!
