They style, inspire and bring your dreams alive. You’ve probably already
seen some of their work, remember Bec and Chris Judds famous ‘Juddchella’ house warming party? It was Poppy Culture who helped style the place with thousands of arranged flowers. You’ve probably also seen their stunning weddings featured in publications like Style Me Pretty, Hello May, Polka Dot Wedding and many more.
Poppy Culture was launched in 2012 by Lauren Pilkington who has a background in fashion and design. After having the opportunity to work in one of Melbournes largest and leading floristry retailers, her vision came alive! Now Poppy Culture is a small team of talented individuals with over 50 years of experience between them! They have a studio in Mornington and are extremely well known around the Mornington Peninsula and Melbourne due to their outstanding floristry skills and the beautiful styling concepts they put together. Not only are they amazing at what they do, they’re all also all really kind, fun and wonderful people. You’ll feel warm and inspired as soon as you meet the team. I hung out with Lauren, Brook, Lauren and Stephanie and watched them bring their vision to life. They all work super hard, are able to have a laugh and all have a very keen eye for detail.
I was lucky enough to go behind the scenes and see the incredible amount of care, love and hard work that goes into styling a wedding. This particular wedding was very special to founder of Poppy Culture, Lauren, who was actually IN the bridal party! I popped down to their Mornington Studio the day before to see some of the prep work and then the final concept come alive at Dromana Estate the following afternoon.
So what actually DOES go on behind the scenes? A LOT!! The preparation it takes to have your blooms ready is incredible and takes days before the actual wedding to make sure everything is good to go on the day. The level of detail, care and love that the gorgeous team at Poppy Culture that goes into their work is a true art form. Flower market runs, making sure every single flower is at its best quality by replicating the perfect conditions for different flowers and tending to individual blooms to ensure they’re happy and healthy.
The wedding was at Dromana Estate on the Mornington Peninsula. This is a beautiful wedding venue with rolling vineyards, a beautiful large reclaimed shed lined with twinkling fairy lights and beautiful long tables perfect for styling. It was a winter wedding and Dromana Estate was the perfect venue with heated floors and the atmosphere to warm even the coolest of souls. Poppy Culture set up a stunning floral ceremony space and styled the long tables and surrounding areas with beautiful arrangements. They also took care of all the bouquets for the bridal party and button holes for the groomsmen.
Here are some photos of what goes on behind the scenes at Poppy Culture when they are styling your wedding as well as the final creation at Dromana Estate.
